A Reciever?

The Ceremonies

December has come, and the Ceremonies have to. Kids from one to twelve have their own special Ceremonie, and Jonas is now facing the last one. In the Ceremonie of twelve kids are now considered adults, and they get their assignments (jobs). Jonas has been esoecting this moment, with fear. His worst nightmare is that something goes wrong while in his Ceremony. And guess what, he guets skipped. In front of all of his community, he passes thrugh a lot of shame. But after all of the other kids of his age recieve his assignment, the chief elder names his the succesor of the Reciever. Its like, one of the most important assignments, EVER.

Quotes That Grabbed my Attention

"But today we honor your differences".  The community doesnt like to point out differences becauses it might cause trouble, but that doesnt mean there arent differences. If there were no differences, then how could there be different assignments. And by honoring differences, they mean that they are important.
"Asher - She said- Thank you for your childhood". Well.... that is weird. Does she mean that Ashers childhood is being taken away? People are kind of possesions for the government. The government really controll who they are, and they can take away quialitues from them.

Final Thoughts....

Jonas being the reciever, well I expected that, I mean, he is the protagonist. But what really grabbed my attention in these chapters is how poeple are treated. They cant choose their assignments, and they are treated like objects. I think that even though these rules may make the community run smoothly, people really DONT know what life really is. All their decisions are made by other people, in other words, theur life is made by other people.
